- No, no, no! Food and nutrition are not the same.
Food and nutrition are not the same, but they are related to each other. Food is eating. We eat because we are hungry or because we feel like it. Eating is a biological and social function. Nutrition is a biological process that happens in the body when eating. Healthy and non-healthy eating The unhealthy diet consumes a lot of ultra-processed food, red meats and is poor in fruits, vegetables, and legumes. In addition, bread, salt, sugar, and alcohol are eaten in greater quantity. Diets can also be classified according to the foods consumed such as omnivorous, vegetarian, keto, and many more. In the omnivore, all kinds of food are eaten from both the plant and animal kingdoms. It is the diet that is considered normal since, human beings are classified as omnivorous animals. Vegetarian is the diet in which mainly vegetables, legumes, fruits, and seeds are consumed. Some people may also consume some dairy derivative or eggs and eliminate fish and meat from their diets. Keto is an eating plan in which more foods rich in protein and fat are consumed, leaving aside carbohydrates. Nutrition Nutrition is the organic process of how the body processes what we eat. In this process the body looks for the necessary nutrients to stay well regulated. Nutrients such as vitamins and minerals are essential micronutrients while proteins, fats, and carbohydrates are macronutrients. Eating a diet rich in micronutrients and macronutrients allows us to ingest all the essential nutrients that our body needs for its proper functioning. Nutrition is an involuntary activity that the body performs through the food we choose to eat. How to ensure good nutrition? Choose to eat a healthy diet Use nutritional supplements Why use nutritional supplements? To feed ourselves is to eat and we do it because we are hungry or because we feel like it. Food is a biological and social function that is determined by our preferences, choices, culture and habits. Which leads us to overeat or stop eating certain foods and consequently have an unbalanced diet. Remember that our body, to function well, needs essential nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, proteins, fats, and carbohydrates. And it is precisely to cover those nutritional deficiencies that the use of nutritional supplements becomes necessary.

- Vitamin D and its benefits
Vitamins are substances that the body needs to grow and develop normally. One of those vitamins is D which helps the absorption of calcium. Calcium is one of the main components of bones, and vitamin D deficiency can lead us to develop bone diseases such as osteoporosis. In addition, vitamin D has a very important role in the nervous, muscular, and immune systems. Our body can acquire vitamin D in three ways: Through the skin, since the body produces vitamin D when we are exposed to the sun. However, you should take into account that a lot of exposure to the sun can lead to accelerated aging and skin cancer. Through feeding with foods rich in vitamin D such as egg yolks, saltwater fish, and some types of mushrooms (as long as they have been sunny). Vitamin D is also in fortified foods such as milk and its derivatives, cereals and juices. Nutritional supplements. - Earth Day: celebrating it every day
April 22, 1970, was the first "Earth Day," approximately 20 million people in the United States came out to demonstrate in the streets and parks to raise awareness about protecting the environment. "Earth Day was created in the United States to raise public awareness of environmental issues and is now celebrated around the world." * Environmental conservation is more than just a celebration. The conservation of the environment is our responsibility. We can all collaborate in taking care of the environment from home every day, making small changes. These changes will not only help the planet but also your health and your family economy. I present a list of new habits that are easy to follow but that create a great impact: Save electricity. Turn off the lights if you're not in a room and change traditional incandescent bulbs with LED spotlights. When you change appliances, do it for appliances of better energy efficiency. Check your windows and doors that do not have air leaks so that in winter, the heat is better preserved, and in summer, fresh air conditioning. Do not leave the television or other appliances on when they are not being used. Save water. Take shorter showers. Don't leave the faucet open while brushing your teeth. Do not wash 1 or 2 garments; try to make them larger. Recycle, and before throwing things away, look to see if they can be repaired or passed on to someone else who may be in need. Try to consume as much as possible organic fruits and vegetables. The products are a little more expensive, but in that way, we contribute to the reduction of the use of chemicals such as fertilizers and insecticides. Use reusable bags when you go to the supermarket or stores and limit the use of plastic and plastic bags in general. Use toxin-free home cleaning products, such as Get Clean. Enjoy nature by visiting parks and beaches. ⠀⠀ Dating: * Earth Day: this is how the celebration that summons millions of people every year came about

- Insomnia
It's two in the morning, I'm very tired, but I can't sleep... Insomnia can happen to me at the beginning of the night, I go to bed, but I can't sleep in less than 30 minutes. It may also be that I lie asleep, but I wake up, and I can't sleep anymore. I tell and story sheep and dawn with a total of inadequate sleep. Insomnia is a very common sleep disorder and is manifested by the inability to sleep. Total hours of sleep vary from person to person. It is said that you should sleep between seven and eight and a half hours. But there are people who need 4-5 hours to sleep while others need up to 10 hours. The problem of insomnia is when there is worry and anxiety when trying to fall asleep and not fall asleep but especially when it becomes chronic. Transient insomnia occurs for a short period of time, while chronic insomnia can last for months and even years. Causes of insomnia Concerns Changes in environments Stress Metabolic and hormonal, neurological, rheumatological, digestive, and cardiovascular diseases. It can also occur by pain or diseases that have to do with pain, such as fibromyalgia or kidney disease, prostate Pregnancy Menopause Psychological illnesses like anxiety, depression Drugs Apnea, etc Sleep is important for good health. The main problem with insomnia is that the hours you sleep are not restful, and you feel tired and drowsy during the day. Chronic insomnia does not develop from one day to the next, so it is important to take action when weeks go by, and you do not sleep well. Tips to combat insomnia Regulate bedtime Get up early even if you've had a bad night Eliminates daytime naps Use the bed and bedroom just to sleep Don't drink caffeinated drinks after dinner Take a soothing and restorative tea In my case, I choose to take chamomile tea every night with 3 pills of Gentle Sleep Complex, and so I help myself to have a restful sleep.
- Fiber and its benefits
According to the Academy of Nutrition and Diet, we should consume between 25-35 grams of fiber a day, but most people eat less than the recommended half. Part of the problem is that we don't eat enough fruits, vegetables, and/or whole grains, in addition to eating processed foods that are normally low in fiber. Fruits, vegetables, and whole grains contain insoluble and soluble fiber. Soluble fiber takes on the consistency of gelatin, helping one feel fuller for longer, which could serve as a natural way to control weight. Insoluble fiber does not dissolve and adds volume to the feces, helping waste move faster and easy disposal. Soluble and insoluble fiber serves as "food" for microorganisms living in the gut. Potential Benefits of a high fiber diet: helps suppress appetite protects heart health and lowers LDL cholesterol levels improves digestion fights cellular inflammation controls blood sugar reduces the risk of diverticulosis relieves irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) healthier skin decreases the risk of hemorrhoids as a cause of chronic constipation gallstones and kidney stones I leave you with this list of foods that contain high levels of soluble and insoluble fiber: 1/2 cup cooked beans 8 grams 1 pear 4 grams 1 apple 3 grams 1 banana 3 grams 1/2 cup broccoli 3 grams 1 ounce of almonds 3 grams 1 cup cooked oatmeal 5 grams Shaklee Fiber Plan 4 grams
- Germs: How to take care of them
Before 2020, to keep my hands clean, I only used soap and water. But today, the new rule is to constantly disinfect our hands. According to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), germs are everywhere and can make us sick. Germs are present in the hands and all those things that we touch in our daily activities. How to take care of germs? Washing our hands. Washing our hands with soap and water or a hand sanitizer is very important to avoid getting sick from germs and even more so. There are differences between using soap and water and hand sanitizer. For example, soap and water remove all kinds of germs from the hands or toxic substances or residues that we have in them. While hand sanitizers remove certain types of germs and do not remove toxins or residues. Given these differences, it is best to wash our hands, but when we are in situations or environments such as public places, the most sensible thing is to use a hand sanitizer. Many disinfectants dry out their hands or leave them sticky. The hand sanitizer I use is Get Clean® Moisturizing Hand Sanitizer because it is an antibacterial hand gel with plant-based moisturizers that keeps my skin soft and protected. It has no fragrance and is alcohol-based, kills germs and bacteria, and sanitizes my hands without drying them out. There is no need to rinse or towel dry, and is safe for my whole family.
- Fast food or clean food
There are two major food groups: fast food and clean food. Fast food This food is popular and fast, as the name implies. It is also known as junk food. You find it everywhere from supermarkets, shops at gas stations, and even in schools or public places in automated machines or vending machines. Junk food is pre-cooked, loaded with fat, salt, sugar, high and empty calories, as well as low nutritional content, and is known to cause cardiovascular diseases such as diabetes, overweight, and many other ailments. Examples of junk food: sodas chips sweets cookies, doughnuts, cakes, and pastry in general When we think of fast food, the above list is the first thing that comes to mind. But, there are other quick "foods" that are camouflaged as healthy food. Such is the case of fruit juices that contain a lot of sugar and sometimes more than sodas. So also chips and pastry, which although it has the label of gluten-free foods, contain the same nutritional deficiency as those that do not have the label. Gluten is a substance found mainly in wheat, rye, and barley that, in some people, creates an immune response in the walls of the small intestine. This immune reaction interferes with the absorption of nutrients present in nutrient-containing foods. Consider the following facts to decide on a clean diet: Since 1999 in the United States: Heart disease has increased by 10% and is the cause of death #1 Cancer incidences have increased by 20%, and it is the cause of death #2 Diabetes has increased by 35% and leads to other diseases Experts predict that for the first time in history, 1 in 3 children will live fewer years than their parents Why? Because we over-feed and are undernourished because we choose the comfortable and fast instead of the healthy. Did you know that: fast food sales have increased 2,000% since 1981 eating fast food more than twice a week increases the risk of developing diabetes Clean food Eating clean is a diet and lifestyle that allows you to improve your health and well-being. Eating clean is eliminating fast food, trans fats, sugars, and in some cases, also eliminating lactose, and gluten. Clean food is incorporating into the daily diet fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meats, and fish. It is also known as the Mediterranean diet. Eating clean provides vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that help reduce free radicals. The idea is to eat natural foods that are fresh and contain nutrients. This diet is not to eat to run any "food." It has to be planned and prepared. Part of the preparation is to have in your cupboard and refrigerator more plant-based foods such as beans, lentils, peas, quinoa, fruits, and vegetables. For foods of animal origin, it prefers that they are from animals that have been raised with a good diet, that have had movement, and that have not been treated with hormones and/or antibiotics. Basic principles to follow for eating clean: Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables Choose animal protein from animals that have been raised ethically Limit or eliminate processed foods Read the bullets Avoid adding sugar or salt to already cooked foods Limit alcohol consumption Drink 8 glasses of water a day
- Spring and autumn: time of allergies, colds, and asthma.
The two seasons of the year in which more pollen is found in the environment are spring and autumn. During the spring, we have the flowering of vegetation, and in the autumn, there is the pollination of some trees, such as cypresses. All this pollen triggers allergy symptoms such as: tearing and redness of the eyes runny nose congestion skin allergies, such as small pimples, red patches, or itching Colds and all the above symptoms causing asthma Allergy is a reaction of the immune system. Normally, the immune system fights germs. But an allergic reaction is when the body identifies an allergen as a germ. Allergens could be pollen, mites, mold spores, animal dander, bites, medicines, and food. Allergies can cause symptoms such as runny nose, sneezing, itching, rashes, fluid retention (swollen feet), or asthma. Cold is an infection, usually benign, caused by several types of viruses, which occur mostly in the spring, summer, and autumn seasons. The form of infection is person-to-person contact and can also be transmitted with the nasal and oral secretions of the infected person. Most colds are produced by rhinoviruses, but there are also picornaviruses and coronaviruses. Asthma is an inflammatory reaction that occurs in the bronchi, which are the ducts that carry air from the trachea to the lungs. This inflammation makes it difficult for air to pass through and causes shortness of breath and coughing. It is also common to hear whistles when breathing or feeling pressure in your chest. Traditional herbs that relieve allergic symptoms Purple echinacea helps to stimulate the body's natural endurance. It is a plant native to the north of the American continent and is widely cultivated in the United States and Europe. The root and leaf extract of the plant is used for its benefits of resisting and recovering faster from a cold or fluor, as it reduces the mucus and the duration of the disease. Black elderberry helps maintain a healthy immune response. It is a shrub native to Europe, and the extract of its fruit is used when it is well ripe, which is when its flavonoids are concentrated more. It has traditionally been used to fight against the symptoms of respiratory diseases such as fever, cough, and infectious sinuses that cause pain and stuffy nose. The larch tree improves immune compatibility. This tree is from the pine family, and an extract from the tree's wood is used. Its benefits are that it stimulates the microflora in the intestines and helps to have a healthier colon. Also, among the medicinal properties of this tree is that it helps to increase the development of immune cells. Zinc is an essential mineral that is part of superoxide dismutase (SOD), which is a group of antioxidant enzymes that provide defenses to cells.
- Can nutritional supplements strengthen the immune system?
In the face of the current crisis of the pandemic created by the Coronavirus COVID-19, it is well known that there is no way to prevent the disease other than to avoid contagion with social isolation. We don't have a vaccine. When we get sick, we don't have a specific medicine to cure us. What do we have left? My opinion: strengthen our immune system. The immune system consists of a complex collection of cells and biochemical processes that are constantly on the defense against invading agents: viruses, bacteria, fungi, and toxins. Acquiring a healthy lifestyle is very important to maintain a robust immune system and be able to prevent infections and diseases. Strengthening is possible when we eat nutrient-laden foods, exercise, and use nutritional supplements. The function of nutritional supplements is to cover nutrient deficiencies. We have deficiencies because we do not manage to ingest all the necessary nutrients with the feeds, which is why a booster is necessary. Since not all of us eat balanced or highly nutritious meals either because there are foods we do not like or because they are not available or because of the way they cook or because the food arrives old from the market and therefore malnourished. Our body, during digestion, seeks to absorb essential nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, proteins, carbohydrates, fats, and water. These nutrients are essential for life's basic processes, such as converting food into energy, promoting growth, repairing tissues, increasing defenses, and preventing diseases. Among the nutritional supplements that can help us boost the immune system is vitamin D. Vitamin D Vitamin D is a fat-soluble nutrient and is essential for good health and the proper functioning of the immune system. Vitamin D helps white cells (monocytes and macrophages) fight and decrease inflammation. Many people are deficient in vitamin D, which affects the functioning of the immune system. Low vitamin D levels are considered to increase the risk of developing respiratory tract infections, influenza, asthma, and allergies. (a) The use of vitamin D in supplement form has been proven in studies to affect the immune system positively and that it is important to protect the respiratory system from infections.
